← Înapoi la BlogClever Dripper — Immersion + Pour-Over Hybrid
Hybrid · Mr. Clever · Taiwan · 2007
The Clever Dripper combines immersion (like French Press) with paper filtration (like V60). A silicone valve at the bottom holds water until you place it on a cup — then it releases through the paper filter. Best of both worlds: full body without sediment, paper-cleanliness without losing texture.
Classic recipe
- 18g medium-coarse ground coffee
- 300ml filtered water at 92°C
- Clever Dripper with #4 paper filter
- Timer
Steps (3-4 minutes total)
- 0:00 — Pour 60g water for bloom, stir, wait 30s
- 0:30 — Pour remaining 240g water (total 300g)
- 3:00 — Place Clever on cup — valve releases, drains in 60s
- 4:00 — Lift, serve
Why Clever Dripper
- Forgiving — hard to mess up; great for beginners
- Best of both — immersion body + paper clarity
- No agitation — coffee just sits in water, no pour technique needed
- Versatile — works for filter-style, also for tea
When to choose Clever Dripper
Clever is ideal when you want French Press body without sediment, or you're new to filter brewing. Great for medium-roast Americas coffees: Colombia, Costa Rica, Honduras. Less ideal for super-light African coffees where pour technique matters.
Common mistakes
- Forgot to pre-rinse paper filter — always rinse with hot water first
- Steeping over 4 minutes — over-extracts; release valve at 3 min
- Grind too fine — clogs; aim for coarser than V60
- Lifting and replacing — once you place on cup, leave it; lifting breaks seal and brew gets sucked back up
